One Year Ago - Leaving Her Behind

(December 8, 2008)
One year ago today we left Finley behind in the NICU as we were discharged home from the hospital. Leaving her there was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. Going home with no baby in your arms is no fun. It was nice to get home to Bryson and prepare things a little more for Finley to join us at home soon though. She was getting stronger and gaining weight in the hospital, and well taken care of! She had gotten down to 4 lbs. 4 oz. as babies lose some weight after being born before gaining again. This was the day that the weight started to add on little by little. Finley has been such a chunky baby as she's grown, you wouldn't even be able to tell she had been a preemie. We are so thankful for that, and I love her little thighs! Over the next few days, she continued to improve and we visited and transported milk over and over again. We were getting so anxious to get her home with us, especially before Christmas. We were told she could possibly be there until her due date, which was January 17th, and we just didn't want it to take that long! Luckily it didn't :)
